During the last week of hollidays, I visited Cuiaba, capital of Mato Grosso, state that forms part of West Center of Brazil. The city is located near to the edges of the Cuiaba river and because of the important urban developement of Varzea Grande and Cuiaba, nowadays it doesn’t have limits between those cities. According to IBGE, Cuiaba’s population arrive at six hundred a thousand habitants. If we calculate the number of habitants of Cuiaba and Varzea Grande, we can say that there are eight hundred a thousand of habitants who live in this region. Established in 1719, the city was famous for its gold deposits until century XX. Since then, it had a population growth above of the average of the country, reaching its height in the decades of 1970 and 1980.
I really like there because it’s a city like Sao Paulo but with a daily routine not so extressing. There we can see a lot of waterfalls and a beautiful nature that we can’t find here.
